I have heard of one or two stories of the chassis rails being pulled inwards due to the forces being on just the outside of the rail.

No proof though, just hearsay. I can't believe it with no proof to back their claims up, no one can say if this particular design is rated either.

As Inc said, back up the claims. Or at least post a link to back them up.

On another note, if anyone has or sells a suitable rated product, I do not mind if you spam me via PM, god knows I need them.

What are they a Jate ring or some kind of lashing ring?

    Picture would be nice.

I have the 4x4DE recovery points on my DII as well... no issues here.

As well as the 4x4 Discovery web site listed above - you can also contact Michael Samootin on mob: 0412 227 085.

I'd be interested to hear more Tombraider...these things a 10mm thick... held to the chassis with high tensile bolts through the original chassis rail holes... I can't see them letting go...

It's you are pulling hard enough to damage these... you really should be finding a better way to recover the vehicle I'd say.

yes fine they look like they will do the job, but incase they fail and kill someone, are they rated, personally I don't want to be liable if it fails and either killls someone or does some major damage to someone elses car.

Anyone can geta 10mm thick piece of metal and bolt it to the car, doesn't mean it wont fail.

I have yet to see a recovery point for a landrover with a SWL on it, All the major 4wd stores have these SWL stamped onto there recovery hooks, but as we all know they wont bolt up to a standard LR chassis.

Also what is the SWL on the bolts?

Don't get me wrong I don't want to p1ss on anyones fire here but 4wding can be dangerous especially recoveries. An insurance company or coroner would be finding someone to blame, fitting unrated points yourself or getting someone to fit them to your vehicle opens this blame onto yourself

Sorry guys not for me, find me a rated one with rated bolts and I'll get a qualified person to fit it.

Have I been in the public service too long or what

I'll jump in here and give 4x4de a nudge and anyone else trying sell Land Rover stuff.

If they'd got back to me on the few occasions I'd called or e-mailed about equipment I would have bought off them, instead I went elsewhere.

So to all those selling Land Rover accessories and parts, please get back to your potential customers! Some of us do want to spend our money on accessories and I'll only give a business so many chances.

    Now off the soap box...

Those recovery plates look the same as the one's on my Disco that Troutbeck sells.

For my Defender I've got JATE rings on order.
