    fitting a TD5 I/C 2 a fender TDi

Anyone done it?..if so what are the pit falls and have you any pics...
at first glance I can see pipe outlets opposite ends but it is a fair bit bigger than the tdi 300 I/C..pretty close double the size......
would it be better to route the new pipe work up and around the motor or 90 deg it one end and run it through the space the old I/C has vacated..

I was going to fit a TD5 and Auto to my 93 Disco, but, it seems the TD5 gets it's speed readings for the computer from the ABS brake sensors and that would have meant having to fit the ABS system to my Disco along with just about all of the wiring loom, would have been cheaper to go out and buy a Disco 2 with the TD5 and Auto, good luck, Regards Frank.

In the UK some base model freelander did not come with ABS - on those cars there is a drive off the gearbox for the speedo and the speed input into the ECU - on cars like mine this is blanked off and the speedo is driven off the ABS rings as is the speed input for the ECU. So with some mucking around a TD5 ecu might be able to take its speed input from the speedo system - likewise you might be able to put the abs speed ring from a later disco onto your front hub etc - all options are possible.

I am a bit confused I thought the question was about an inter cooler, what has this got to do with ECU's, speedo's etc.,

    Or am I missing something

I'm sure there are TD5 Defenders without abs/tc available.
And what about the 130" versions - didn't think they had abs/tc?
..But these were all manuals, not sure about the TD5/auto combo though,
these would have come from a disco? ..and I'm assuming all discos had abs/tc

    Hey Nigel
    Into the grumpy pills again
I would wonder if a TD5 intercooler is actualy much bigger volume wise. The tdi is smaller but much thicker.Filling the 2 with water and measuring the volume should tell you if you are gaining much capacity wise.
Have a look thru a new rodeo grill Dawg Im betting they are a better match, similar fittings.Find one in a wreckers yard and you are in bussiness. They are heavy duty compared to other jappy stuff.
    GO LAY SOME BRICKS MAN

    speedo s1

    Tank

you could fit a series 1 auto box behind the td5 that would solve the speedo problem,
