This is the D2 key, http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s...9;t=1171434594
Mine is broken as well so any ideas are most welcome.
The key blank and fob are available as a single part, the key blank is also available seperately and so I assume is the fob part.
If you pay more than $290 for the whole thing (key+fob) you've been had.
Early D2's were mostly 314MHz but then they transitioned to the higher frequency. Any dealer can confirm frequency from your VIN.
The fob (or plip) comes with 2 barcodes, one is the key code for the BCU the second is the initial sycronisation code for the BCU. Every time you press the button this code is changed in the BCU.
Another thought for the rubber part is to try a wrecker. The key fob's are useless without the primary barcode (although it can be read from BCU) so you could then just swap the guts and the key over with a key fob from a wreck.
HarryW was getting one,if he misses this post try sending him a PM
Andrew
So I guess I be the guinea pig. I PM'd HarryW and he hadn't received his. So off to spend my hard earned on one from the US and see if it works, if not well I got a spare case and key blank. Will report back and let people know.... Unless anyone else has any experience that haven't read this thread yet.
