    Key Remotes for D2

I'm sure everyone with a D2 has had a problem with the rubbers on the keys by now. If not, I'm sure you will.

Got an interesting question about utilising key fobs from O/S namely the USA.

As I have a '99 D2 my frequency is 315mhz which is the same as the US, but the key fobs have 2 different part numbers. Aus has CWE 100700KIT and the US has CWE 100710KIT. As I said both being 315mhz in frequency. I rang MR Automotive in Brissy and they followed it up and the feedback said the US one wouldn't work because it is designed for a Left Hand drive vehicle. Now this does not make any sense at all to me, there is a massive price difference between an Australian one at $300 approx plus coding and $103.35 plus $25 shipping for the US one.

Has anyone attempted this before, am I just not seeing something plain and obvious, because I don't know how they would differ, if they only lock, unlock etc...

    Anyone help on this one?????

Are the rubber bits available as a spare part? The ones for P38A Rangies are and only cost a few dollars from LR - part no. YWC000300.

Here's a couple of pics I took earlier:

Just had this exact problem with my D2 - the rubber on the button splits and simply falls out – no button (it worked with duct tape for a while). And it is a complete replacement.
Down to SS LR $420 for replacement key. I says “oh well”.
Car comes back with new key working and 2nd original key NOT working – back to the dealer AGAIN – wish I thought about MR – none of the locksmiths could help me, since found out they need to program the car to accept the key.

I guess the remote in the d2 is the same as the di, the rubber bits you press are available as spare parts.rubber only, not expensive from memory.
Don't do what i did when mine first fell apart and keep using the thing. the micro switches underneath have a plastic button on top and this too wears off making the thing unusable. two brand new remotes later.
they have to be dealer coded, so i found otu and the buggers off course charge you for it.

Pedro that is a regular problem , i guess no one admits to it, thats why they have the rubber inserts as a spare part item.
