some of your and others tips have been moved to the Common threads section, but I for one would like to see it as a more specific thing ie filter out all my stupid questions and just post the good stuff.
I believe this idea was first brought up by birthday boy steve 'crump' recently, and I for one think it would be a good addition to this forum. I'm thinking possibly the usual Q&A type of format but would welcome suggestions on how to best tackle it. The other and possibly better way is for those who want to contibute servicing ideas/tips/tricks/ parts preferences/ etc etc can just post them up, and people can take/ use what appeals to them the most.
A word of warning though; dodgy and unsafe practises or advice should be avoided as some may actually attempt it themselves, and all safety based repairs such as brakes and steering should only be attempted by competent people. I'm sure other repairers on this site have also seen their fair share of stupidity and carelessness that can and does cause accidents.
So who goes first???

The Ugly Duckling-
03 Defender Xtreme, now reduced by 30%.
a master of invisibleness.
So what you are saying is you would like to see it as a 'presentation' of a list of items to attend to and how to attend to them and with what tools? Or just a post on 'this is how we adjust valve clearances on the 300 Tdi'?
Or do we just post up and let the mods move it to common threads if deemed worthy?
Thanks,
JC
well that is basically what Pedro has been doing, but its a mammoth task, what would be better is the guys like yourself post the stuff directly into common threads and then when the question is asked the mods or whoever can just post the link to common threads, thats my slant on it, but I'm sure there is a better way, Pedro, Pedro???

Posting straight to common threads is much better, so do we wait to see what the swift one says??
I have a few ready to go.

thats an easy download the 300tdi, overhaul manual there is a page
http://rebornco.com/300TDi_overhaul_manual.pdf
on how to do it, print out the page, stick it on the wall and follow it to the letter, thats how i did mine, however it is easier with two people one to rotate the motor.
a 27mm socket on the big nut on the bottom pulley. shrink your hands and socket because there is hardly any room down there. , and takeout the glow plugs.
this is a good freeby from the net.

There's an even easier way... Just remove the +12v from the fuel injector solenoid & crank the engine on the starter.![]()
When doing those clearances, don't forget "The Rule of Nine"... i.e. When number 8 is down, adjust number 1... Number 6 & 3, etc....![]()
