That's unfair. I could overtake people on freeways before... as long as they were on push bikes and it wasn't too much of a downhill gradient

Checked the traxide, and overnight while charging the main it has clearly become happy with the state of the main and joined the two batteries up. They are both evenly charged this morning

When you get a chance, would love to see pics of the power supply set up you have done in the back.

Well, some good news and some bad news. Firstly even though Cannon promised our camera to us it hasn't arrived so no photos until next week unless it arrives late

Anyway, I have the Traxide DBS in and all wired up. It's simple to hook up and impressive. I decided to test my system by loading it up.

I'd spec'd everything for 30amps. So, I've put a 30 amp thermal circuit breaker in and wire to carry this much current. So, I hooked up my 300w inverter and found as many lights as I could I can run a 150W spot, 75W extension light, and worklight flouro indefinitely

However, when I plugged in a 60w soldiering iron in on top of all these lights everything worked great for a few minutes, and then click and darkness as the 30amp circuit breaker tripped. Ten seconds later is was away again for another minute or 2 and then click! All the wire to my powerbox in the back only got slightly warm, so I'm very happy

Also, I left this load on for about 2 hours at which point the Traxide isolated the main. I guess that translates to about 60amps out of both before it isolated them. I then left it drain the aux for about half an hour more.

I then tried to start of the isolated main... no worries. I watched the voltage and it started and got close to 13v, and then a few moments later the traxide switched the auxillary battery in and the volts dropped to 12.7/12.8 so I guess it was charging hard at idle

As far as I'm concerned that's just perfect

It's been a while since I updated this.

Here are some photos of the airlocker installation.

Also this is the proposed location of the puter when it's running in mapping mode It's not great but I haven't got any better ideas. I'll attach it with a bit of velcro. Little bit of work to do there still

In later news after seemingly endless procrastination we've added the 127l Long Ranger fuel tank and matching ARB towbar (grumble grumble). It would appear to be a good thing at this stage. I can't see it causing too much strife off road. I'm looking forward to 1000k a tank.

In other news we have added a side curtain to our Gunyah awning. I think they are both going to get a serious workout on our coming trip.

Still to be fitted before we go is the phone aerial, front mudflaps, and gas shock for the rear door. We still have to mount the inverter and GPS unit too. The Traxide DBS seems to be all working very well now which is good

3 weeks to go and it all looks achieveable.

In other camping equipment news our Nothern Tourer and other tweaks to our setup mean that from stop to tent up (including beds deployed) and all the other stuff to cooking dinner is now achieveable in half an hour single handed . The verdict is still out on packup (it was wet and I was lethargic .. LOL) but I think we'll be ok.
