Nice job Lokka. I was about to suggest a stainless rebuild. A chap in Adelaide, got sick of the weak Ford jobs, started making his own backyarders in stainless. I think he left town for some peace and quiet. They are very popular here in SA.

    Shorty.

Dredging this thread up from the archive after searching and not really finding the information I'm looking for.

I've not yet removed the door cards from the RRC, so please understand I am looking first for the correct information on how to fix an 'intermittent' passenger side front door handle.

The issue is simple. key in either side, the doors unlock - no problem. However, on the passenger side, the front door doesn't always open when pulling the handle out - it only works about 1 in every 3 attempts. I've already lectured the missus on not reefing the handle, but it appears to be getting worse rapidly. It's not used often. maybe a dozen times since the car was purchased 8 weeks ago.

These stainless steel handles look the business, and I'm sure that if the handle is faulty, I'd like to install a set, but firstly, can someone enlighten me as to which rod(s) require adjustment, or is it something more creative inside the door, like a failing bellcrank linkage or worn out bush that needs replacing?

    thanks in advance.

is a common problem but it's an easy adjustment that needs to be done every now and then it seems.

remove the door panel and look down inside the door, you'll see two vertical linkages.

the longer one that goes from the exterior door handle down to the latch mechanism, you'll need to have the window all the way up for access.

at the bottom end of the linkage where it attaches to the latch you'll see that it's threaded.

undo the clip at the top end of the linkage and screw the linkage in as if you were tightening it for several turns, then reconnect it to the top end, close the door and try it.

you may have to do it a couple times to get it adjusted to where you like it.

Just realized I never thanked you for the reply - I wasn't neglecting this - I just couldn't find my round tuit.... I removed the doorcards last week after I got another one.
and this is why having too many jobs to do causes issues of 'neglect'. Also, since I've now got a round tuit again I can do things twice as fast, or twice as many things at once

cheers. Tutorial was bang on. Easy fix.
