I wouldn't say they are prone to leaking heater cores but it is a Land Rover..........
Are these prone to leaking (like my P38A)?
I noticed the Disco is getting no heat into the cabin on the way to work in the morning. I had a look under the bonnet tonight and found the heater has been taken out of circuit and bypassed.
I wonder if it's shot. Hopefully Lyndal won't need it in Derby.

Then I'll try hooking it up tomorrow.
The windscreen leaks badly from the top - it runs down the inside of the screen and also pours over one's legs as it drops straight down. I've sealed it but heve yet to test it.
The floor is a bit rusty on the driver's side owing to that.

Probably wouldn't bother hooking it up again. I think most people bypass them when the core springs a leak, that was the case with mine.
And from recent threads getting the coolant system full again is just too much of a pain.
But if you could work out a way to put some of that stop leak stuff through the core without having to hook it up I'd be dead keen to hear.
Cheers
Simon.
Hi Ron, ours has also been bypassed. It was leaking apparently and the connections at the firewall had also corroded. I have heard it is common.
Replacing a heater core is a pain in the proverbial on modern cars - and bloody expensive.
They want over $700 for the core for my Rangie!(I've been offered one for a lot less by a friendly chap.) The plan was to replace it whilst I had the Disco to drive to work but that's now going to Derby.

The Disco heater should be easy to do Ron - book time is only 6hrs.
Oh, and the heater core is only around $240. Not cheap but better than a RR.

Mine let go in a cloud of steam a few years ago and as it is not easily accessible, I bypassed it. Don't need it, apart from maybe 2 or 3 mornings a year.....
