Thread: Defender Electrics!

Just been thinking, the reputation landies have had on electrics, Lucas& so on, But even though the Fenders after the series had the same traits, from what i have had gone wrong , has only been earth wire probs, either not there!! , or heavier wiring needed. A stealer told me 2yrs ago my alternator was stuffed, bearing was noisey!!, its still charging , still makin the same noise, still going!!. So really they have improved, HAVEN"T THEY ??.

The early ones at least still used dodgy lucas bullet connectors, they still dont have headlight relays, switches and plastic quality are still pathetic in comparison to japanese stuff from even the 1970's. But having said that, with decent earths and headlight relays fitted, they're not too bad.........
At least most of the circuits are fused.........
