Thread: Freelander, should I just shoot it!

Last time I got problem with TC/HD/ABS lights ON intermitently and then they all just stay ON plus no brakes light and no front wipers. Change the brake switch (10 minutes job) still didnt fix it. Brought to URL in Melbourne, spent $100+ just for them to play around with the brake switch which I already changed. They asked me to come back but I didnt bother to come as I didnt want to waste my $$ for nothing. Sometime or maybe most of the time they dont know what they are doing or they dont care. They just simply changes things without nowing what causes it.
I traced up FL wiring diagram and found out the problem could be in ignition switch. Put a jumper cable from one suspected pin to another, bingo! fix it. Leave it for a year and finally bought new one. Found out it is common problem with iginition problem with FL. You might want to try this as this is also an easy job and cost you $58 delivered. I can't help you with the dash / gear selection light issue but I can with regard the not starting.

REPLACE THE CRANK POSITION SENSOR!!

I had this issue with my 2001 Freelander and this fixed it right up. My symtoms were exactly the same as yours. One minute the thing runs like a dream and the next it will crank but just not start.
