Ok, All Countys are Salisbury rear end. (with a "N")
Yes the same as the Defender.
But.....
1994 was the change from Drum to Disc rear end.
Then Defenders went back to Rover rear Diffs at some stage 2002??, but not all to my knowledge.....

Just a quick question, did the countys around the 86mod, have the salisbury diff, and one piece axle on the rear,? and was it the same as the early defenders 90 -96 mods? Thanks![]()

JoJO like the Disco position.... Mine's taken with a fire extinguisher though. My maglite is still sitting in the drivers pocket... Never got round to mounting it yet
I have fitted a 1994 rear axle to my 1989 110. It went straight in.
If the defender axle has disc brakes and your county has drum rears you are supposed to get it certified.
The county will have lucus master cylinder with a pressure valve between the mc and rear brakes.
Also the county will probably have a borg self leveling unit and defender wont. I've never removed one but believe they are simply a bolt on unit.

If the mounting points are there, yes. Saw one last week.
Disc brake hubs are different in that the bearings are closer spaced and are weaker. Axles splines are also more prone to wear as the hubs arent oil filled. Both rear ends are interchangeable however, earlier countys will have imperial brake line fittings.
sclarke has a Defender rear end for sale - see http://www.aulro.com/apc/showproduct...uct=679&cat=25
If I still had my County, I'd grab this.
