Hi Streaky,
Some friends of ours have recently bought one of these for their 40L Engel. I'll see if I can get some more info for you.
Cheers,
Lionel

How good are they at doing what the manufacturers say they do?
What price do you pay in Australia?...UK price is 185 pounds. I'm looking at getting one for my 32lt Engal but would like experiences from other users first.
Thanks guys.
Streaky.

We have one on our 40L Engel. The unit comes with a seal improvement for your current fridge lid - which does really improve the seal after it ages over a couple of years.
We find that the nature of the fridge changes a little from what it was originally with the TwoZone fitted. Temperatures in the bottom section end up a fair bit lower than the top now, of course. With the temperature setting left the same as it was, (about "2") the bottom area ends up a little warmer (at about 5 degrees) than without the top fitted because of the extra volume. The top section was too warm for "cold" drinks - and the very center of the TwoZone unit's basket sits at around 8 degrees. This is OK for salads and other foods that you intend to eat over the next day or so.
So - yes - we do now turn up the fridge another notch to maintain 1.5 - 3 degrees in the bottom section and no more than 5 up top. One secret is to not open the bottom section too often (for which the whole TwoZone section above is its lid) which maintains colder temps because you don't "dump" all that cold air stored in the top as you expose the bottom of its basket. Another sectret is to maintain a decent stock of cold food in your new fridge system. Cold food lets the fridge draw temps down faster after you close the lid again.
All up? We love ours as it gives us a heap of extra room without suffering a bigger footprint in the vehicle. It does need to be wound up a little more - but there are always trade-offs in whatever you do. The extra power consumption is negligible, but I recommend that a fridge fitted with a TwoZone only be used in vehicles fitted with a dual battery system - period.
Cheers

Well BCF (boating camping and fishing ) have them for $325 Which is about 130 pounds each
I want to get one for our 40l . Infact we bought the 40l with the idea of one day getting one of these. As the 40l is fine for us at the moment but as the famuily grows it would be nice to be able to make it bigger

We have a 40 litre and looked into the dual zone after some friends bought one. It used more current, the fridge was turned up and was cycling on/off more often, The top and bottom temps are different by a few degrees, you cant open it if you leave your fridge in the car (would be allright in a ute tray) and lastly for us, Engel will not warrant a fridge with a two zone fitted as they claim it makes the compressor work too hard.....how they could prove one was fitted once removed is beyond me....

Our friends recommend the twozone highly. It is about AU$320-350.
It does make the fridge twice as high, which could be a problem in some vehicles.

There was one of these on ebay that finished yeaterday or the day before. I lost interest when it was $40 of buying a new one and that did not include postage. It would have woked out at about $10-20 less than a new one and it was second hand. Not worth it i will go and buy a new one from BFC , when they have a 20% off everything day that they do now and again![]()

We have one, brought it about 3 years ago? for our 40l engil.
Love it.... (family of 5) gives us the extra room to carry decient fresh vegies etc in the unit, and I can keep the meat (and especially the beer) realy cold down the bottom, without destroying the lettuce and tom's etc up top.
It does make the engil work a little harder, but hasn't been a problem for us yet.
So at the end of the day the Twozone appears to do what it says on the tin.
What has anyone done about extending the Engal Thermal jacket to fit around this this? I was thinking of getting some similar material, sewing in a zipper etc.
Any pictures available of what you've done?
Thx.
