    Question Oil cooler for TD5

Just a question to all that know. Reading yesterday in one of the threads about a TD5 Disco with a possible cracked oil cooler. Is it possible to by-pass this cooler, thus avoiding the oil in the cooling system, and fit an external oil cooler somewhere???. I owned an RS2000 Escort many years ago that I Turbo'd and fitted an oil cooler to the engine because it used to turn the moter oil to water. She was a quick little unit though.

I'm just trying to avoid what sounds like the inevitable.

Your comments, recommendations are all appreciated

If you remove the housing there are two banjo bolts tht hold the oil cooler. These will need to be reversed and fittings that don't foul the centrifuge assembly attached. You could then route the oil cooler anywhere you wanted. The main problem is space.

No reason why you can't fit a seperate oil cooler, just make sure the airflow is good across it and it doesn't restrict your engine cooling. I used joss sticks to create smoke that I could see how the airflow went. Nice smell as well.

I use to run (I use the term loosely) an RS2200 - it spent more time in the garage than it did on the road, lost a bucket load of dosh on that one.
