I had a noise coming from that area along time ago it took ages to track down as it would only do it on a rough road turned out the bullbar was touching the guard when I hit any bumps
Is the removal of the inner plastic guard an easy operation and would I need to replace the plastic clips holding it in place on one side. Can easily get the screws out running along the wheel arch, but don't want to rip the other side out if they wont go back in. Got something rattling inside the wheel arch, but no idea what it is, but it is something reasonably solid......any ideas what it might be on the drivers side of a '99 TD5 D2?
Aye, Mick

Hi Mick
Had to pull mine out to fit the snorkel, just undid the screws and clips. If you stuff the clips you get em cheep enough from supercrap/repco on the revolving stand with all the nuts/bolts/gromits/etc

Well i'll be damned, I took a look last night and sure enough the bull bar is hard up against the panel. Have not yet recified this or taken it for a drive but this will be my small project over the weekend. Appreciate the heads up as this may save me a lot of mucking around taking the car to pieces, plus was still racking my brains to think if there is anything actually inside the wheel arch![]()
Much appreciated guys, Mick
P.S. Classic me to ALWAYS look at the most obvious thing last![]()
let us know if this was the problem? not to hard to adjust the bull bar have a jack handy and loosen the mounting bolts for the bar

UPDATE: Turns out that even though the bull car was touching the guard, the knocking is still there, albeit the noise has changed slightly after me mucking around with the bull barRemoved the innner plastic guard in the wheel arch hoping to easily find the offending item, but nothing...................one great big void behand the panel with nothing obviously looses or knocking.
Will be adding it to the list for my mechanic in a couple of weeks so maybe he will have more luck.
Will report back again if any changes.
it can be a pain tracking down noises as it can travel through the body work,I take it you have checked shockie mounts, sway bar bushes, engine mounts??
