    V8 serpentine belt tensioner bearing

I am trying to remove the bolt which holds the tensioner pulley so that I can replace the pulley bearing on my V8 97 Disco.
Can any one confirm please that the bolt is left hand threaded (undoes in the same direction as is used to load the tensioner when fitting the belt on the petrol engine).
The bolt is very tight (and I presume Loctited) that I would like to confirm this before I apply more force.

    Cheers and thanks

Not that I recall. I'm pretty sure it's a RH thread on my P38A with the serpentine belt (it's been a while since I had it off) and definitely is on my 300 Tdi Disco.

But just to clarify - a LH thread is undone in clockwise (RH) direction, a RH thread undoes in an anti-clockwise (LH) direction. A RH thread is what most bolts have.

If you can get it warm, it will soften the Loctite.

I've got the part number for the bearing at work. I'm sure I posted it up on this site when I did it but I can't find it.

This is the link to when I was playing with mine.

I recorded it from AULRO on 21 Oct & have it as a 6203 with seals, not shields. Sound familiar?

    Sounds familiar enough.

What's the difference between shields and seals?

Mine had the plasticy bits to cover the bearings. Although since I shimmed my adjuster to stop the belt squealing and that the adjuster is probably original at 176k I think it will die before the bearing. Unless it suddenly rains in Qld and we get mud but I'm not holding my breath

Not sure, but is how I recorded that info from whoever posted it. As I recall, this point was stressed.

I'm guessing shields are plastic and seals are rubber.
