All up about $150 including removal of the old part, that was still bolted onto the transmission, and fitting a new one. Not too bad considering it's a Land Rover. The price is still cheaper than a speeding fine without my cruise control.

    Thanks for all your help,

Does sound quite inexpensive. Where did you get it done ?

A VSS for the D1 was in the vicinity of A$80 + P&P from the UK.
Much dearer in Oz if you can get someone to acknowledge your request. Don't ask.
My one fell to bits which seems a common problem, but I was able to clean it up internally & silcone & cable tie it back together. Been working perfectly since, but a bugger of a thing to get to on the Discov.

Had it done at ULR in South Melbourne. Was $90 for the part, and $69 for labour to put it in. I could have done it, but again didn't have the time, or place to work on it.

    Thanks,

    Ken
