When does your fuel light come on, mine is kicking in at just above 1/4 tank, is this the std setting, can it be adjusted.

i have had 6 defenders and all of them came on at a differant level.

The 90 we have at the moment does not even have a Fuel light. Has the senser and light but no cable. Don't know why as i bought it second hand. But never caused a problem so it is on the bottom of the list of things to do

There is a float attached by a length of wire to a rheostat that sends back a voltage to the gauge, so by bending the wire up or down you will get a different reading on the gauge. There is a region at the bottom of the rheostat which turns on the low fuel light.

Unfortunately it is not real easy to get the bugger out from the tank, esp on TD5 Defenders. I gather you have a TDi300 from the year?? You can pull the assembly out from the side of the fuel tank when it's still in the vehicle, but it is cramped. Once you get it out it is easy to bend the wire and test it out. BTW - Do it when the tank is nearly empty of course!

I've got a 200tdi 110. The light comes on when there is about 16 - 18 litres left in the tank.

    Genuine question

Which Defenders had fuel warning lights? I can't find one on my 98 300Tdi cab/chassis or even in the owners handbook.

    1998 300 Tdi Defender Trayback 2006 - often fitted with a Trayon slide-on camper.

Was this a option from new mine doesnt have one that i know of
well mine has a long range tank so it might have been disconected , i think ill go check the owners manual and see what that states

Plus mine has only ever been filled from empty once cause its just too painfull ( $$$ ) to fill it up from empty
