county rear seat upgrade to split defender???

guys i converted my 94 110 ute to a s/w with the rear of a county and now have the solid rear bench seat held back by tha factory flat bar and knurled bolts.
i want to upgrade to defender split rear seat so i can carry the 2 kids and engel in the rear. (engel in place of the removable single seat.)
does anyone know if it is easy to convert the county bench to defender slpit fold. it looks like the seat retaining mechanism is different, has anyone swapped this gear over.
trying to figure out if it is straight foward or lots of fab is reqiured
    any help appreciated, thanks

Never tried but the Defender seat is quite simple. Mine is held by two rubber tabs and otherwise just sits against the support.
I want another single so I can put the fridge between the rear seats.

I have been toying with this idea for a while I bought a newish split back seat and started to fit it but the leg room for the passengers/kids is greatly reduced and they dont fold down into the footwell as neatly as the old one did creating a flat bed for sleeping/carrying windsurfers (high on my list of priorities), so I havent fitted them yet. All you need to do is just mount the brackets to the floor (3 of them) but you also need the catches that fit to the c pillar (I dont have these). I think the counties are a little different in the back as some defender stuff I have bought doesnt fit my county some interior panels/frames around the rear windows/back seats seem to be slightly different. I was trying to fit the seat further back to create some leg room for passengers but they fowled the rear wheel arches and I didnt feel like panel beating them. So in short no fab required just get all the brackets as well as the catches for the seat backs but the kids might be kicking the seats (with their knees) everywhere you go. Having said that must be the same as a defender setup just that I havent been in the back of a 110 defender.

Not sure I was any help, I'll shut up now..

there are at least three types of locking mechanisms.

My first county was a solid rear seat. I did similar to you and converted to a late county (1988) s/w body with a split rear seat. They both to some extent fix to the capping. The early county was just a flat hook. The later county was similar to the defender and had a type of door latch mechanism that was bolted to the caping and wheel arch.

If you buy a defender rear seat just check the under seat mounting set up to ensure it fits to your county set up (which bolts to a type of small cross member under the body). I think the mounting set up changed in the defender at some stage.

    good luck.
