Na the factory turbo (without tweaking the pump) only has 5psi output, havn't seen the need, even in darwin.

Is anyone other than myself running an EGT guage on a 4BD1T Isuzu. ( factory turbo or a/market). If so I would be interested in your readings to use as a comparison.

it's not the boost that ups EGT, it's the fuel.
Yea I know, the fuel also controls how much boost as well. Hence why I said mine hadn't been tweaked. I'm only refering to the factory Isuzu turbo too, they didn't have a wast gate and were a matched turbo to the motor.

I have tweaked and de tweaked mine, as I had 10psi and 630 Deg. (Upstream) for a while with the auto in, now with the LT95 I can get heaps more performance and see only 500 to 540 Deg. and get about 25 to 27 mpg.
I still get around 10 psi at the manifold, because this is where I have the wastegate actuator line plumbed in.
The non wastegated factory turbo's are important to set up with a pyro and boost gauge, as they can overspeed and over fuel/temp if too much tweaking is done. Having said that, I would move the factory fuel setting about 1 turn (screw out, not in like the Tdi) and see what it feels like. 1 turn isn't a lot, as I have moved mine 3 and can only get 620deg, and this is with 460,000km old injectors!!!
I recently fitted a 4BD1 turbo , huge front mount intercooler and Santana to a 130 Dcab, and after initial running we upped the fuel 2.5 turns, and it'll now climb hills like you won't believe, even in 5th. Very happy with its fuel economy too, currently using less than the 300Tdi that came out. ( Primarily due to the small capacity engine being asked to do too much, this is one heavy 130.)

mate mine runs at about 600ish with a long run uphill, can get it to go higher (for a few sec's) but usually at the top of the hil by then, and cools very quickly.
running factory garrett turbo (around 12 - 13psi when up it)and turned the fuel up and down that many times can't remember where it is. around town usually sits on around 200 - 300 deg. have a smalll i'cooler top mount, and pyro is at half way round the dump pipe 90' bend from turbo.

Many thanks for your readings. The reason I asked is, that since fitting a TD5 turbo ( M20 Garrett from memory) and changing my injector nozzles to the turbo nozzle, my EGT readings are higher than that of other diesels. But after seeing everyones readings they are within the norm. Before this I was running a non wastegated Switzer Turbo at around 6-8psi.
Sam if your readings are after the turbo, and thats what your guage says you are running big temps in your turbo.Are you going to the joint club trip to the Springs???
Justin, I am running 10psi at the inlet, after the I/cooler, and have forgotten how much I have wound the fuel out, but it pulls like a train. My t/couple is just before the inlet to the turbo upstream. It sits on 400 - 450 around town under acceleration, and can go into the high 600's when chasing a TD5 up a hillthey just cant pull from 800rpm hey.
Larns, hope you get your R380 going soon. Give the 75/85 Transmax a go in it. I have tried all sorts and so far its the quietest. I am considering using my old auto trans cooler and pumping the g/box oil through it as well.

Your 5psi value is not quite correct. As I posted previously on OL:
1988 and Earlier engines were fitted with an:
IHI RHB-6 (with wastegate). The wastegate opening pressure (boost pressure) was: 680mmHg = 13.15 psi = 0.91 Bar
1989 and Later engines were fitted with a Garrett T-25 with NO WASTEGATE. Maybe this is where the erroneous 5psi boost figure came from, but I don't see why these would run lower boost than the earlier engines.
