    A comparison chart - Disco II TD5

I have only been looking for a short period of time but searching for an 03-04 Disco II TD5 has me confused. People, mostly car yards, list their cars with all of these options such as leather etc when they quite clearly are not on the car. These may be honest mistakes but none the less, with the options on the models, I am getting confused.

Can someone please point me to a comparison chart so that if the ad states its an SE (you know one of the rigs I have been looking at states it's an 'S' on one site, an 'SE' on another site, and a plain 'ol standard on another) I know exactly what it came out with - such as DVD, Leather etc.

I have been looking at Redbook for these options but I don't think that site is correct either. I think car yards use this site to cut and paste details. I called a yard yesterday only to find a car that was advertised to have leather and ACE had neither....

    Try here:

    http://www.carsales.com.au/car-resea...ed-search.aspx

To narrow your search to a particular year and a range of models, don't choose a version, then scroll down to the next set of options and put in a year or years. This should give you all versions of Discovery.

    Ah ha! And it does:

This is where the fun begins....
Catch-22, there really isnt a "comparison chart" so to speak.
    I will try to explain.
Series 1 Disco, through its life there was basically an "S" "SE" "SE7" & "ES", going from base to top end respectively. (there were a few variances like an AApack, AVpack, RS etc)
Series 2 Disco, when initially released there description were as follows-
    DA5, Diesel Auto 5 seat
    DA7, Diesel Auto 7 seat
DA5/7 + ACE Diesel Auto 5/7 seat with ACE.
When ordering a 7 seat u automatically got SLS (Self levelling suspension) at the rear.
    PA5/7, Petrol Auto 5/7 seats
    PA5/7 + ACE u get the drift..Substitute the A with an M & u have the same vehicle with a Manual g/box.
In 2000 u could get a DA5 with ACE & SLS, not many of these in the country, In late 2001 LR incorrectly ordered 22 ES D2's with coil rear end..OOpps. These are in the country somewhere...
The guides never took this on & just kept using the earlier prefixes from the D1. This made it a real pain for up & coming buyers.
In late 2001 LRA decided to go back to the D1 prefixes & start all over.
The names became simple once again S SE SE7 & ES, then in 2003 they changed it again, The base discovery was a "DISCOVERY", The "S" was the 7 seat variant, "SE" was what was the "ES" was & they introduced the "HSE" which had it all. But for the first time in Aus we had 2 vehicles with leather that was factory fit & Electric. An 03/04my SE & HSE had factory leather.
Then the last of the disco's in the country late 04my were called a "CLASSIC" pack & had leather standard in the TOWN, but manual seats, The COUNTRY had cloth seats. None of these vehicles (Classic)had ACE
DVD, were in some vehicles in 02my & most of the 03my. But be careful are a really crap unit.

Good luck, i think i have made this as clear as mud

    Thanks for that guide,

it explains why I am having problems finding a classic with ACE (doh)

It is fun explaining this to the car salesman though, looked at many advertised ES's that don't have leather

    Hi Caine,
The "Platinum" edition was released in early to mid 03my. It only came in 2 colors & 1 Interior color-black. It had some special extra's-chunky roof rails, Platinum badging, wheel cover, Hi ICE(ICE-In Car Entertainment, was the factory fit Alpine system with Subwoofer in 5th door) & others i cant remember..NB it did not have ACE either from memory.
