    exhaust manifold td5

cant seem to stop the exhaust manifold warping on d2 td5.had it machined at 70k now done again at 100k.Have had the engine chipped so thinking might be generating too much heat.anyone else found this to be a problem.would a different muffler help keep the manifold cooler?

Chipping doesn't have anything to do with it, the same number of non chipped ones have the same problem.

Bigger studs are available but you'll need the holes re-taped to fit them, apparently this fixes it, PM slunnie for the place to buy them or maybe someone else knows where to get them.

Also make the end two holes oval instead of round. This gives a bit of expansion room so it won't warp or snap studs.

a butchers solution but its cheap and very easy...

get 2 exhaust gaskets, hylomar them to gether and then install them...

yes, chipping can cause it but the severity of the chipping required to make it the primary cause WILL cause other parts of the donk to melt first.

if your really worried about it just fit an EGT and then watch that, dont let it go over 600deg c for a good safety margin and your laughing..
