I experienced a minor problem a few months ago where I lost two belts in a row due to the tensioner pulley bearing seizing (something to do with Toolangi mud - lost the alternator as well) That is now fixed but since then, especially first thing, I get a noise similar to an adjuster pulley being loose and rattling back and forth. I am wondering about things like 'a/c clutch gone' or 'the crank damper gone'. How do I check either of these without having to dismantle the whole front of the engine?
remove the belt and see if the noise goes away do not run the engine for to long though as the water pump won't be turning and how many K's does it have on it
