sounds liek the rim may be letting air out, that or the IRD unit is playing up, but that's usually uneven wear on a couple of tyres.
Hi guys
I have a 2003 TD4 Freelander (bought it new last July) and at its first service (20,000kms) the front left tyre was badly worn and had to be replaced. The dealer said the tyre pressure had been too low. So, now it's time for the 40,000km service and guess what, same tyre will need to be replaced again. What's going on? The other tyres seem to have normal wear and there are no obvious tyre squeal or steering/balancing issues (and obviouly I had been watching the tyre pressure, keeping it to 36 psi).
As I will need to replace at least one tyre, I'm thinking of replacing the lot. What's the largest width tyre I can put on the standard rims? (Currently running Pirelli Scorpion P195 / 80 / R15). Any suggestions re brands (although I know 15" tyre options are not great).
Last question: where can I get a nudge bar for the Freelander that meets the maker's requirement re airbag sensors ect? I want somehere to stick a mobile phone booster antennae as I do some country driving.
Cheers.

A normal freelander will wear front tyres 3 times as quickly as the rears but will wear evenly from side to side - so if you only have a problem with one tyre you either have a problem with the tyre or wheel or the suspension on that side.
I recently changed my rims from the standard 15" to 16" and am running 225/70 tyres. Slightly larger than allowed but still fit OK. Genuine 16" rims often come up on e-bay for about $120 for a set of 4. I had 15" Bridgestone HTs that gave me about 50,000km when rotated - I wear mine on the front until 3/4 worn then swap to the rear. By the time the fronts then wear down the rears are then due for replacement. You are correct there is not a lot of choice with 195/80 tyres. I am currently running BFG ATs
I have a genuine nudge bar that I got off ebay for $120 and they do come up from time to time. They have tabs for lights but the top cross bar may prevent using them for be used for aerials.
