    Traction control, good or bad??

Have been loving the Traction control until I got the Disco stuck on a loose shaley hill today.
When I went to start climbing again the Traction control came on so strong it kept stalling the vehicle, not sure of what to think, is this normal or not??
Factors: Sh!tty tyres, very loose surface, possibly not enough revs to launch??

Ideas?? thoughts?? wondering if I should override it & fit lockers???

Tc is a very good thing if you know about it and its limitations as implemented by Landrover...

There are some work around and as i think it was LADAs posted somewhere a way to turn it off easily without faffing around with the vehicle.

with poor tyres and poor traction yep it will quagmire you if you stop...

the first solution is to shut it down (turn engine all the way off and then restart and get moving before its completed its self checks... when the self checks are complete it will come online and if youve got any motion happening it should keep you going...

The second option is to disable it and go for ye olde schoool driving time...

to do this turn the engine off and then back on to the ign on point..
when the TC light comes on tap the brake pedal 10 times (do a search for disable traction control that should bring it up) this temporarily turns off TC although the warning light will come on during low traction it wont fire the pump. You can now drive around in what is essentially a gargantuanly refined series III stage one with abs. When you shut the engine down again and restart without pumping the brakes TC will come back.

    Hi Twitchy
That disable dont work on a D2,I couldnt get mine to work, neither could others.
You need to get a CDL acuator fitted if its an early D2,the TC works much better with the CDL locked. If its a 2001 to 2003 you probably dont have the CDL in there.
Drop your tyre pressures to around 18psi,even stuffed tyres will work better if they arent hard.

I don't believe the tap 10 times on the peddle works on the Disco's with the Wabco SLABS. I believe it is only a Defender thing with the Wabco D unit.
