Hi all
Staked my Cooper STT last weekend through the sidewall and can't seem to find a replacement (second hand) on the old STT pattern so am contemplating a new set of rubber.
Does anyone see a problem with me running 32"x9.5"R16 (actually measure 33") centipedes on a stock defender with D1 rims ? I've heard of guys running 255 85 R16s (33") on stock defenders OK but finding a decent mud in that size is becoming harder and harder as manufacturers drop the size from their range.
Opinions ?

They should fit ok
But don't expect it to drive or wear like a radial. This really is a specialist tyre.
Get used to earplugs, flatspots in the morning, interesting wet weather grip, ordinary dry grip with big slip angles, sloppy handling at low pressures, rapid crown wear if you run radial pressures, rolling off the rim at really low pressures, 4 rooster tails in sand.. but jeez thery're great in the loose stuff.
Have fun with them

on my second set of 255/85's BFG's on the stock 6.6" rim. Corrects the speedo and odometer (LT230/R380) really well and buggers up the turning circle.
Big rumour was six months ago that BFG had dropped the size, but it could just have been a supply issue.
Maxxis also have the Big Horn 762 MT in that size, at least in the catalogue.
Yep like rick said the maxis bighorn in the 255x85x16 is avaibale thats what il be going for next when the buckshots im runing are dead![]()
Are you talking about the Simex Extreme Treckers or just the Mud Centipede?? the Mud Centipede looks like an agressive BFG Mud.
If its the later, then you will find it alot like the BFG mud, but its not as nice on road, Cheap for a reason.
If its the Extreme trecker your talking about. DONT USE IT ON ROAD.... the contact area for tread is so small you have no stopping or handling capability. On Road the ET is down right dangerous.
My 30c from a guy with ET's and BFG Muds and BFG AT's
