Jeep. I grew up with them. (Dad had a Wagoneer) My first car was one (CJ-6). Had a J3000 FSJ (that's Full Size Jeep, like an F350) as a work truck for years (and actually replaced by a Ford F Series. Good rig too with a warm 351C on gas ).


Yep. I'd be a masochist and go with the other icon of the 4WD world. But none of that new stuff since Chrysler took over, thank you very much. Leaf springs and AMC, Kaiser or Willys engines for me (depending on model)
I just can't go mainstream.

Not 100% sure mate, But definetly the 4.2 is no go as far as the emission laws go, ceased production this year. There is a all new 3.0L on the way. The nissan 4.2 was a top motor have to admit that,a builder mate of mine has just clocked up 600, 000 ks on his GQ ute and its never been touched bar normal servicing:eek: . Ah, ER , the Landy will do that no probs.:D :D :D :D .

I hate to admit it, but ive owned 2 Toyota Land Cruisers
1959 FJ45 Ute, i bought it in 1986 and it was a horrible 3 speed manual and very rusted, i ended up cutting it down to a MadMax style buggy.... then sold it for $700 in 1988
Then in about 2004 i bought a 1986 Troop Carrier Cruiser, 35's, Lockers, 4" lift, extended shackles, Warn 8274, Black widow Storage, 240L fuel tanks and the list went on......
Sold it 6 months later and bought...........

93 DISCO TDI 3 door, then Camila, then Wookie the 94 Disco (wife has) and then Grommet.

As they say and the rest is history.

Would i go back to a Toyo???? mmmmmmmmmm Poontrol b4 a Toyo

Rick....can you add anymore to the 130 chassis cracking? I have a 130 that takes an absolute hiding in the desert.

Ahhh look...... I can see myself in a Mog too.......thats me in the middle seat during last years Desert Challenge Rally Raid.

Thats why we bought a Jeep as our second car just has that bit something the jap 4wd don't have. Our 99 XJ has been very reliable old technology in a more modern shell and goes like the clappers to. I've got to say though and get just as much crap about reliabilty with my jeep as i do with my rangie but i've never liked being a sheep. And whenever i walk into a auto parts store soon as i say Rangie or Jeep parts they always say gee that will be expensive.

Mog or an oka

Streaky, the crew cabs crack the main rail where the loads are fed into it from the A frame cross member. If it is going you will notice the body mount is gusseted down the outside of the chassis rail. The body mount cracks due to flex, and unfortunately so does the rail, down the gusset and it propogates up and over the top of the rail. I'll dig up a pic and post it.
Not all of them seem to do it, but a fairly high proportion do, including mine (Dec '98 build) and my Mums ('01 Td5) !
