    how do I change a h2o pump on a 93 4.2 RR?

Hello if any of you can help me with step by step information on how to change a H2o pump on my 93 4.2 RR I would appreciate it. The wife called and said there was green liquid pouring out onto the ground. I drove over and checked it and it seems to be coming out of the seep hole under the pully.
    Thanks everybody.

    Nobody will answer you.
This is one of the simplest jobs on a Range Rover. if you have a 4.2 I assume you are in UK, or some other non Australian place.

I suggest you buy a manual , where it is set out in detail.
    But basically
1 Remove Viscous fan, by belting big spanner(32MM?) with a hammer towards the passenger side if you have v belts. Remove shroud at same time,as its hard not to.
    2 remove belt/belts
3 empty radiator, remove hoses from pump
4 Unbolt pump and make sure you know where each bolt came from as they are different lengths. Buy new bolts to replace ones you broke.Drill out broken bits.
    5 clean gasket surfaces
6 fit new pump and new gasket. Put anti seize on shafts of bolts
    7 Vice versa
Its good to fit a new thermostat at the same time.

Thumbs up Thanks for the information.

Thanks, I put the new one on this evening. I had one bolt break of and I am not sure how to drill it out, I am going to see if my brother will help me Sunday. I also twisted off the plastic radiator plug, but other than that it went pretty smooth. Thanks for the help I reall appreciate it. Also thanks for warning me about the bolts. I can see where that could be a pain in the ass if you didnt pay attention.

    Thanks again.

Those plastic plugs? Ditch them and get some brass ones.

You need an easy out. It will come with a small drill bit and the easy out itself. Drill a small hole in the center of the broken bolt (This is the hard bit). You then screw the easy out in and undo the bolt. If all goes well you then just need to put a new bolt in. Hope it all goes well.

If there is anything proud on the broken bolt, get a dremel and cut a groove in it for a screwdriver. Soak the hole and bolt remains with CRC, or other penetrating oil for a day or so, spraying every so often.
Then hit it with shockdriver, if there is room. If not use a stumpy and give it a couple of belts with something before trying to loosen it..
If it is one that goes through to the other side, soak from that end also.Sometimes there will be a stump on the other side that you can grab with multigrips.
You usually do this while it is apart!!!! LOL
PS sorry forgot to mention important step of soaking with CRC.

New hose w/sensor blown after two days!

I really thank you all for the input. Since you all seem to know somthing about Rovers I was wondering if anybody knows what the sensor in the middle of the top radiator hose is for? I was running a flex-hose on there while waiting on my new hose to arrive. I had left the sensor wire(s) undone and nothing seemed to be affected. I put the new hose on Saturday when I changed the water pump, and today on the road the dash light came on as well as a cloud of steam from the engine. When I checked I noticed that the Brand new hose had blown right where the sensor is connected. $50.00 for those buggers. I am thinking of putting the flex back on and by-passing the sensor. What do you guys think?
