What are the differences between the 2 engine types within regards to performance and economy fitment etc.
Has any bought a reconditioned engine of either type recently.
I read somewhere that the power difference was 4hp and 7 lbs/ft torque extra - when new of course. Otherwise, there are no major changes, but as you might know, just slightly different ways of doing things: different style head and different injectors, waterpump relocated, turbo plumbing re arranged, serpentine belt etc. The major bits stayed the same, and as far as I can tell from observations, magazines and comments on forums, both last a long time with proper care.
Rebuild is complete (just edited my signature). Just had the local LR mechanic check it this morning.
Still a vibration some where in the drive line, that I cant locate, I will get him to dig deeper in the next few weeks.
I guess my question was one for the future.
Ok the differences.............. just about everything...
they look very similar, but they are so far from alike they might as well be a GM and Ford engine...
I have pulled down both a 200 and 300 and i have some spares left over from the 200 i pulled down. The only part i have been able to use on the 300 is the Glow plugs
They are both a great engine, but the 300 is better...
the tdi300 is a revamped version of the tdi200 which is a revamped version of the 2.25..
its got good liniage, its made by landrover, what more do you need to know?
