dullbird, I would fork out for some Vice Grips, some Multigrips, a set of Open end/Ring spanner combo and I have a set of spanners with swivel sockets each end, very handy, screwdrivers, a couple of shifters(big and small) a good Ball Pein Hammer and a few punches and chisels, should get you out of trouble, Regards Frank.

I got a great tool roll from Super Cheap I think it has 96 pieces and almost every thing you need for $95, that was a year ago. I think you can still get them maybe check it out.

Several years back, out of frustration I went and made my own to suit what tools I carried. I found I couldn't buy anything decent and so got some canvas, leather and a bag needle and set to work. Unfortunately the whole lot was stolen from my vehicle when I rolled my old Disco.

Don't be afraid to get something bigger than you need. Big is good as the tool wrap will become you work area as well out bush.
Also make sure it has a flap to cover all the tools so they can't slide out

Yep i made my own up in a army ammo box sockets,spanners,screwdrivers,pliers,vicegrips,cri mptool/wirestriper and a few other odds n sods then i have a tupperwere container which has all the bigger items like larger spanners,hammer,breakerbarand tyer repair kit ..

All of which lives under the front seats neatly and is easy to access

What size spanners you want will depend on what model Landrover you have.

Generally, though, I carry a set of ring/open end spanners to suit (in the 2a A/F 3/8 - 7/8"and selected Whitworth, in the 110 metric 8 - 19mm and A/F 3/8- 9/16"), pliers, multigrips, 12" and 8" shifters, hammer, fencing pliers, flat and Phillips screwdrivers, vicegrips, allen keys, greasegun, oil syringe, hub nut spanner, spanner to fit the nut on the towing ball. Supplies such as electrical tape, electrical wire, tie wire, brake fluid, grease cartridge, engine oil, clutch master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder, spare fuses and bulbs, fuel hose, hose clips, tube silicone gasket.

Probably have a few extra bits I can't think of at present.

My GO box contains (the one thats almost always in big red)

a complete 3/8th inch drive socket set from 8mm-19mm and imperial equivelents

a set of ring open end spanners from 8-24mm (and imperial to match)

A complete set of screwdrivers 13 pieces all up

4 sets of pliers (needle nose, sidecutters, 2 sizes of bull nose combos)

2 pairs of multigrips with soft rubber jaws so they can be used as brake hose clamps if needed

a small engineers ball pein hammer

trouble light.



3 shifters 4 inch, 8 inch and 12 inch.

an assortment of loctites, gasket goops, cake of soap, chalk, paint pen, hand cleaner.

some wire, fuses, bulbs, random washers, self tapping screws (most of this has made its way to the bottom of the box from non vehicle related stuff and stayed there)

I bought a cheapish 3/8 socket set, screwdriver set and set of Metric and Imperial combination spanners from Supacheap or Repco, and added a few bits such as pliers, molegrips, cutters, crimp pliers, hammer, mallet, multi-meter, etc. Added to that is electrical spares, hose clips, exhaust putty, stop leak, sealant, etc. which I hope would cover most things.
