Reminder beep for Maxi Drive locker

The other day I looked down and noticed the rear Maxi Drive locker light was on and locker was engaged ( Don't know how I must have bumped the switch or something )

Luckily I was on dirt road, but if it had been on blacktop it could have done some damage.

So what i'd like to do is attach an audible warning beeper to the "locked" indicator light. However I'd like to have something that just gives a not too loud, short reminder beep every minute or so. All the buzzers/beeprs I have seen at Jaycar or Dick smith are screeching loud and go continuously.

Does anyone know of an intermittent 12V beeper or buzzer that will do what I want, straight out of the box ?

I could make something up with a 555 timer chip but that involves soldering, circuit boards etc and I am looking for an easy way out.

    tks in advance

silent but deadly, with my arb lockers i hear the compressor start

i cannot help you on the buzzer but i am always worried when megs is driving the defender that the lockers may be engaged. i have an extra switch to isolate the compressor, actually i don't think megs knows where the second switch is!!

    Want an intermittent chirping noise?

The tyres will tell you first tight corner...

What about one of those reversing beepers - seen them in the accessory shops, but can't remember which now!

Yep that's one way to do it i guess.
I'd still like to find an easy to install beeper module.
There's got to be something out there.

Yes I thought of those too. I'd like something that just beeps once every minute - sort of like the reminder beep you get when a message is on your mobile.

I was thinking of a reversing beeper too but built from a kit (which I thought was available but I can't find it!) and alter the timing components.
Dick smith also used to have a 'cricket' kit which made an intermittent chirping noise.
...or put a flashing LED in your dash? http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.st...uct/View/K4200

    Locker warning light

without pulling out a wiring diagram from my RAVE, I wonder if it wouldn't be at all difficult to tap into the wiring of the centre difflock to illuminate the dash light

lock the centre diff out, pull the dash apart and use a multi-meter/test light to find the wire sending power to the light globe.... bit of stuffing round but works.
wiring diagram sounds like a better way tho
