I don't know how that could happen, as you have to PULL the switch out to lock the locker???

MD lockers are strong enough that you could probably drive on road (with it locked) for a long time without damaging anything.

I had the same fear and made up interlocks from scrap wire that just slide over the switches They appear to work really well. You definitely can't turn them on by accident.

Yes I don't know how it happened either, someone unbeknowns playing with it perhaps.

Wouldn't it just be easier to move the warning light to somewhere more prominent. The beeping will annoy you offroad.

    Steve

Hi, I've just joined this forum and have a 300tdi defender with rear maxidrive. I was always concerned about exactly the same problem and as a result I check the light and more often push the button just as a matter of course.

The warning light is currently in the spare switch block down by the heater controls. Yes I guess I could move it. I thought about the spare switch positions in the instrument shroud but they are obscured by the steering wheel - no real gain there.

I don't think I'd get annoyed by a small reminder "beep" every minute or so. It would also remind me to turn the locker off after a hard bit. I generally only have it in for a few minutes at a time anyway.

    OK
So what you want is a 555 Circuit that will operate a buzzer that will sound for about 2-3 sec when the locker or lockers are in. This will then reset and then the timer circuit will start again.

Have a look here for some ideas on how to create one.

As you mentioned the 555 timer i'm guessing you have enough nouse to be able to build a timer.

From what i can see the 2nd one down on this circuit will do you just fine.

    See how you go.

    locker switch

So what i'd like to do is attach an audible warning beeper to the "locked" indicator light. However I'd like to have something that just gives a not too loud, short reminder beep every minute or so. All the buzzers/beeprs I have seen at Jaycar or Dick smith are screeching loud and go continuously.

Does anyone know of an intermittent 12V beeper or buzzer that will do what I want, straight out of the box ?

I could make something up with a 555 timer chip but that involves soldering, circuit boards etc and I am looking for an easy way out.

    tks in advance
You can get the same actuator valve but with a toggle head for your Maxi Drive. Then you can get the "missle" lock fire switch cap from Jaycar and that will stop accidental activation.
