what do you think about just running maxxis buckshot MT 245/75/16 on standard suspension. then if i lift it later there will be plenty of room for wheel movement.

Maxxis buckshot eh? Dont really know much them...what sort of price are they?
I generally prefer more 'known' tyres like the Goodyear Wrangler MTRs or BFG muddies. But if your only after weekend play tyres then what the hey...might as well try em.

they ar only $200 a tyre fitted, so for that price i thought i might give them a shot
Mate the buckshots are a great tyre there good on road not too noisy they grip well in the wet and are tops in the mud and good on rocks and good on sand i run 33x12.5x15 buckshots and love em there on all the time and sofar the wear is good they have prolly done 20,000k and theres still at least another 30 or more to go and not a singlr puncher yet there got good strong cases and solid side walls have a look at this link and see how they rate Maxxis Tires

You don't need no stinking lift, just a bullbar, then 265/75/r16 fill the guards nicely
ive already got an ARB bull bar, but i dont think anything bigger that 245/75/16 will fit

They will fit on a standard disco but you are better off with a lift as well...just stops them rubbing the plastic (fake rock slider) trim. It just give you better clearance....and it looks better than on a stocker.

Unless you are thinking of doing some much harder driving then dont get the 265/75s. If you new to things start of with the 245/75 and go from there. They will give some extra clearance and wont stuff up your gearing too much.
A set of cheaper tyre might be the go as you wont have lost much if you decide later to lift the disco and go up a tyre size.
If you are interested in doing this sort of stuff then get 265's or even SImex JT2's, but if not stick to some 245/75 muddies.
