Ken you said it yourself a Disco 1 is based on a Rangie, I think you'll find a D2 was born under BMW's reign, or should that be Reich. Anyway, yes it is capable of traversing the same terrain as a classic Rangie, yes in some ways with the T/C it can get a few more places as well. No it will not get through it all without damage, substancial and bloody expensive damage.

I just dont understand what you think constitutes a capable 4x4.
Ive owned a Series2 and now the D2 and I love the comfort and the more than capable vehicle I now own.
I dont care how much it costs to fix it because its like anything you buy If you cant afford the repairs dont buy it.
If your going to be doing something that stupid where you know theres a distinct possibility of doing serious damage dont put yourself or others in situations you cant handle
I constitute a capable 4x4 as one that will not **** itself at the first sign of mud in the sensors and need a testbook to reset a fault to enable the TC/ABS/HD features, one that will not break bend of have hairline fractures in the chassis, one without plastic bumpers etc..... A defender, classic rangie, series or disco will do.Quote:

P.S the retail price for a new chassis is $15000.00 including GST and six months shipping from the U.K. then around $2000 to strip and rebuild the vehicle.
And how many D2's have need a new chassis? Ive heard of cracking, but that can be corrected...

correct me if Im wrong but I thought a spring lift had nothing 2 do with the clearance once it was fully compressed anyway??????

Unless your jumping the vehicle you wont compress all four springs at once keeping decent clearance under the vehicle is about tyre placement when traversing obstacles ie deep ruts, logs, rocks etc...Quote:
