    International 2.8

for a while now, I've been thinking about buying a early model RR possibly a 2-door Auto and converting it to diesel with a 2.8L HGV motor , is it a Straight bolt on jobbie , or will a kit be required ?

AFAIK, most use this engine to replace a 200Tdi or 300Tdi. They use some parts from the old Tdi, such as flywheel housing and engine mounts.

However Jase on this board will know more about this.

The 2.8 was from the S.American Ford Ranger.

Will the Turbo Diesel from the current (Australian) Ford Ranger fit a Tdi bellhousing?

It may become an easy conversion in a few years time.

Not really economical as the engine alone is $11k plus add an LT230 transfer and either an R380 5spd or a ZF from a disco/fender , pretty soon your old rangie would have cost $15k plus.

I will Probably use most or // all of existing parts from my Disco for this Project, How about a Trade-in from my existing TDi300 ? will that Bring the costs Down a Bit ?

The power benefits of the 2.8 can reportedly be gained by putting the 2.8 manifold & turbo & intercooler on a 300Tdi. Which costs about $2,500-$3,000, speak to Jase for exact figures. But this might be a far more economical conversion.

    Thanks Michael

I have heard that similar dyno figures can be had from a Mod 300tdi engine vs a 2.8 international engine ,question how do I get hold of Jase ?, is he one of the members of this site ? and what you are saying make more sense.
