With a 3 year warranty I would say yes. Just don't use it in comp style runs. If I had the dosh then one would be on the back of my rig.

Aside from the winch, you blokes know they were also selling 300w inverters for $59 and a 3 pack 40ch uhf for $69 and for the fashion conscious High Ugg boots for $39.99. At the Ballina Store today there was a crowd around the ugg boots!

and no I didn't buy a winch.

Ok, stopped into ALDI on the way home and bought the winch it certainly is a heavy beast. I've also ordered the winch tray from TJM - another $230 - pick it up on Saturday. So what now - should I strip it down and re-pack it with grease? What grease should I use?

One thing I did notice reading the specifications, the 12,000lb winch has exactly the same motor + gear ratio and weighs the same, only difference is the cable which is thicker.

Anyway, thanks for all the advice, now lets hope I never need to use it

Yes strip it and grease it now. I use the BP red grease, very liquid and runny, CV joint grease might be good too.

I used Marine grade grease (for outboards and such) and really packed it in there, get rid of the crap chinese grease first, check the boss that the clutch lever rotates in, mine fell out, I tack welded mine back in, you may be able to stake it if it's loose, Regards Frank.

Winches are really good for pulling your Dumb mates out of holes. I have one on my Zook and its also saved me some embarrassment. Broke a diff on a steep climb another time and had to use it to lower the Zook back down about 200metres. I'm thinking of getting one from Aldi for the Disco. I don't see it getting to much use, but than neither would it get used more if it was a Warn.
