    Wheel Spacers

    G'day all
Has anyone got, used or know anything about those 30mm Scorpion wheel spacers.

    Are they legal?

Will they reduce the turning circle on my 130?

Is there a supplier in Aus?

    Cheers Hagus

Get a wheel works to offset your rims, normally costs about $50 each and will do the same thing but safer and legal.

    not quite true.
just depends on the engineer doing the report! its in the wording of spacer! yes technically they are a ''spacer'' but not in the old style ones that slip over your wheel studs and shorten your studs. they are more of an ''adapter'' and this is where you might be able to get around it.
its because they bolt to your existing wheel studs and then offer 5 new wheel studs to mount your rim to. so as long as the engineer dosnt think they will add excessive load to your wheel bearings they should be passed.

but in saying that its easier and cheaper to get/ find rims with the right offset. just check on the maximum track allowed in your state.

    cheers phil

    Thanks for the info.
I currently have alloy rims so can't get them altered.

I am moving to Gove so I'll just have to leave it for now. I thought if the spacers were legal it would be an easy way around it.

I read an article on the web from 4x4 mag that had a 130 in it with the scorpion wheel spacers on it.

I don't think they would reduce the turning circle very much on a 130 anyway - its never going to be very good!

From Qld. Transport- "The fitting of spacers or adaptors between wheels and hubs, additional to those provided by the vehicle manufacturer, is not permitted."

"Off-road passenger vehicles fitted with front and rear beam axles, may have an increase in track up to 50mm. beyond the maximum specified by the vehicle manufacturer for the particular model of vehicle."

I didn't think the 130 came with a turning circle?

Isn't it just easier to buy a new one that is already pointing in the right direction?

Looks like I'll just keep doing what I do now.

If you can't get around it drive over it
