the 4cyl TD in the defender goes okish but some more horeses woulndt go astray.

are these engines capabe of safely handling more boost, upping fuel pressure, larger exhaust ect.

That would be a 200TDi..you will need a pyrometer first before tweaking or you can Frell the whole thing up big time, but you can squeeze a bit more from the motor sure

i intend to run an EGT guage.
One chap in Lilydale (range rover spares) suggested a 2.75" exhaust, up the boost and adjust the mech fuel pump accordingly for around $1100 drive in drive out. The OEM exhaust is 50mm (2") so im just thinking 2.5" would be a reasonable increase. Do TD engines work ok if the exhaust gas velocity is low due to large bore exhaust.

    LOL at the ****take.

seriously dont ppl power these things up. They dont go too bad (well compared to a pushbike) but could really use a little extra punch.

mate, do a search. Its been discussed that friggin often on here, including big bore exhausts I'm numb.
Plug in 'pump tweaking' 'increased fueling' and '3" exhaust' in the search engine just for the tech forum and see how many hits you turn up. There was a thread from only a few days ago with a link to the best written instructions available in a PDF on how to do it yourself. BTW, a stock 300Tdi system is 2, 3/8" OD and all the bends up to at least the rear axle are mandrel bent.

if you search '3" exhaust' and use 'defender200Tdi' under username you'll find Paul's thread on his 200Tdi exhaust. He was slightly underwhelmed with the results, but there's no doubt that a 3" system improved the performance of my 300Tdi.
