i couldn't get mine off either, replaced little switch on handle for 20 bucks (bit steep for what it was) and hey presto no light flicker or staying on. pretty easy job only 2 screws.

    Thumbs up

On the TD5 Disco the handbrake light switch is on the handbrake itself. I had a similar problem where the light would keep flickering. Whilst the microswitch cannot be pulled apart, I squirted CRC down it. Did this fix the problem? Of course it didn't! The fault was actually on the hydraulic fluid reservoir cap for the brakes. I just disconnected the lead in the end and the problem was solved. The handbrake light on the dash is for the handbrake and a warning light for low fluid level on the master brake cylinder.
