    handbrake light ?

hey everyone does the Td5 Defender have a "handbrake is on light ??"
cause i was looking at my manual and is said that one of those lights on the display (where all the lights are eg TC, ABS) is the brake systems check and handbrake left on light ?? but mine turns off even though the handbrake is still on. is the light supposed to stay on untill i take the handbrake off ?? or should it just turn off after a couple of seconds ??
    Regards Adrian

my 2003 has a handbrake light but it also the brake fail light
this is from the owners manual

    Handbrake & brake system-RED
    The light illuminates when the
handbrake is applied and extinguishes when it
is fully released. If the light illuminates while
the handbrake is released, a fault with the
braking system is indicated, check the brake
fluid level (see ’Maintenance’). If the light
    continues to illuminate, seek qualified
    assistance urgently.

Probablly missing the little magnet and spring or something. The handbrake light on the dash is different to the brake failure light that flicks on on start up.

Ditto. Reaching down and giving the rubber boot a bit of a fondle does the trick for a week or so.
