but I suspect its only because Mr gates hasnt worked out how to force his OS into an automotive computer yet.....
ALthough Ive never had an electronics problem yet does this include things like TPS failure or oil in the harness?
No, Never had one
Yes have had one
weekly
monthly
every 6months
I through this one in the mix as you maybe aware ,although I am computer savvy I am against them in serious off road vehicles where remoteness of our big country and Harsh climate can cause a breakdown into a deathnell
Hence the poll.

When I read the poll I found that there was no appropriate answer - I had them practically daily until I gave up Windows, now very rare. However, on reading people's replies, it seems we are talking about computers built into cars. As I have never owned a car with a computer, again there was no appropriate answer, but I answered "No, never had one", but I'm not sure that helps!
Perhaps you wanted to find out what percentage of owners with computers had never had a problem, rather than what percentage of owners don't have computers?

I have had 1 glitz. The central locking module got dunked and wouldn't turn the hazards off for a day till I cleaned it.
Beyond that nothing. Wish my PC was that reliable.
Are you referring to Computer Gliches - as in Windows, PC, Linux, Mac etc - or do you really mean the electronic control units - ECU's - that appear in almost all modern vehicles?
As for the first option - I spent nearly 20 years in IT, I run Windows, have just got Vista... need I elaborate?
In the case of the second option - Yes, once in 4 years and I now own RovacomLite. My nearest other access to a Land Rover agent/dealer/diagnostic is 1100km or by barging the vehicle by sea.

Do you include EFI V8s as "computerised" cars?
I suppose the EFI is a basic computer system.
My 1988 Range Rover hasn't had a problem in 433,000km.
I think your reasoning is flawed
guess how I voted![]()

No couldnt guess with you as your so unpredictable,Pedro running a V8 you couldn't afford to go remote without taking a second job for fuel costs....Having owned a Rover V8 in the past I can say for its comparatively small power output and small fuel capacity its 400km per tank is crazy.... the prehistoric ECU management doesnt help without pouring $$$ into a wolf system or something of the like,,
ie.. 1200km from home and you fry your circuits in your flapper(airflow meter)..mmm all fun then, get an water into the ecu..oh no..points, plugs the electrickery goes on... or just simply bust one of those useless clips on the fuel injectors(brittle plastic) then see how much fun you have on a corrugated road.... But V8's do sound good...
I do Admit modern vehicles are slowly winning my trust but for me personally a long way to go before I have one...
*yawn*
its not a V8 thing,, and hasnt been for several years now,,,
its a technology thing,,
and its not "early adoptor" syndrome, its the ACCEPTANCE of modern technology.
we got over red flags,
and we got over having vehicles with coils,
most of us have accepted fuel injection,
I totally accept computers in cars.
They ARE MUCH MORE reliable than earlier vehicles, its just that the internet allows US to hear ALL the failures,,
I doubt WE hear about ALL the successes---
Having said that,, what makes this place so great is its variety of OWNERS,,
life would be pretty boring if we all said/thought/lived/loved/ the same way![]()
