In old terms, the fan belt !!
It's a lot bigger nowadays & 1 belt runs the lot.

I don't know who was the OEM for LR.
The original on my one was a Dayco 7PK2255 & has a "LR ERR....." something or other P/N.
It's all been sealed up put away for now for the future.

Locked tensioner...you didn't hear it going? *chuckles* easiest way to figure out if a rattle is a belt run pulley is to remove the belt and listen. If you still hear it...put the belt back on and sell the vehicle!

In the pouring down rain, running 35's in a Defender you'd be lucky to hear that Country and western crap you listen to on the stereo if it's really cranked up load.

Just a question as I think I am about to change the belt tensioner on my 2004 td5 disco, I cannot see much from the top do I need to take much off to get the tensioner off or is it reasonably easy?

    Cheers Keith

Ypu dont need to remove the tensioner to change the belt, if you put a socket over the nut in the middle of the wheel then lever it like you're trying to undo the nut, it will work against the belt tensioning spring and loosen off the serpentine belt. Sounds weird, but thats all you have to do. To get down to it you'd be taking off at least the top radiator cover.
    Cheers

Ah sorry Keith. Yeah, the tensioner is held in I think by 2 bolts, both 12 or 13mm IIRC. You really need ot use a socket to get onto them as they've been recessed into the tensioner. When you undo them the tensioner will just fall out. The hard part is that you sort of need to feel where the bolts are rather than seeing them as such. Its not hard, but just very confined with space and as Graeme said, is a lot nicer with the fan out.
    Cheers
