What do you do for trip preperation

    Just a thought,

I normally once a week do the fluid checks and top up the oil but other than that I normally try to do a service and grease before going away for any more than a weekend.

For a normal trip, weekend at Toolangi or Gembrook, I just do a battery, Belt and tyre presures.

On top of the normal fluids and general check and normaly spanner check things like the roof rack, bull bar bolts and towbar bolts as I have found them loose on one occasion.

Let us know what you do

Looks like Dave and myself are the only ones that do trip prep on a regular basis.

    Or am I just impatient.

If your looking after your landrover properly Trip prep is done as part of your weekly checkovers...

As big red cops more than her fair share of abuse and is due to either do the fuel pump or tank straps and I have one semi dodgy exhaust mount I just give it the eyeball.

Loadout check overs are simply a safety thing to make sure SWMBO hasnt put something somewhere dangerous.(or i havent done so absent mindedly.

Just fluids. Especially P/S (it has been known to leak).

I'd like to know what everyone does about grease top-ups. I'm slack in this department. Never done it Don't have a grease gun and the mechanics don't offer . What do i buy and where do i start?

Sorry for the minor thread hijack

a grease gun and a cartrigde of grease.

absolute minimum is the propshaft unis and slip joints...

some tie rod ends are greasable

and thats about it.. Dont over do it... one shot each nipple once a month unless wading is sufficient.

don't forget to swap the grease gun tip for a flexible hose, makes life much easier IMO
You will be able to get one from where ever you get your gun
