Question D1 V8 - brief losses of electrics

My 94 D1 (3.9, pre-update, 125,000Km) has twice now had what seems to be a total loss of electrics for about a second, whilst idling at a standstill.

Engine faltered, radio dropped out, and (I think) instrument lights went out briefly. Once things came back (by themselves) there were no further problems for the rest of the trip. Fiddling with the ignition switch does not seem to bring on the symptoms.

Are there any common problems in the main power area? Bad connections, fusable links, shorts, alternator and/or battery faults that could be causing this?

I guess I'm going to have to trace through it bit by bit, but hopefully someone can save me some time!

    TIA,
    Alex
