Damo - call in and see Geoff Mockford at Sovereign Motors (Angus St I think - Just off Hutt St in the city). They are not butchers but will give you a good independent opinion of what might be wrong. They specialise in Disco/RR/Jaguar but work on my 130 TD5. Not sure if they know much about Freelanders, but worth calling by to see what they say. They are always very fair with their pricing and can get BritPart stuff which is cheaper than genuine LR (they also genuine if you want that).

I reckon someone could make a lot of money if they design a Freelander V6 engine conversion to a Holden/Chev/Mitsu/Toyota V6.
Atleast the engine problem would be solved once and for all instead of replacement engine every 60K klms.
