    I was just about to post speak to Rovercare as he is in your area lol.

    My Disco 97 300tdi auto has done 289000kms, had no engine probs other than a turbo rebuild, trans is being a bit stupid at the moment (slipping sprag) but it was still quite happy to pull 4000rpm spinning the wheels on the weekend.

    I recon I should get at least near the 350k mark if not past it and then I will look at a conversion of some sort, maybe TD5, toyota or nissan diesel for a big chunk of go improovement.

    Had plenty of little stuff go that cost a lot but still not something that made me think that I dont have a great truck, as there seems to be some real lemons out there but we did search long and hard for this one.

    My 89 Rangie 3.5 has done over 500,000 kms with only a head gasket done. That was my fault as I knew there was a leak but was in too much of a hurry one day to check the coolant and it got very hot. I have also removed the efi and run a simple quadrajet carby.
    The motor is down on power a bit now and I have a 4.6 block and pistons sitting in the garage for a trasnsplant when I get enthusiastic about playing with motors. Whilst is still running ok I cant be bothered playing mechanic.
    My ZF auto was rebuilt at 420,000.
    Using quality lubricants changed regularly is the secret to long life as far as I am concerned.

    Yep, trusty old 3.5's (and family) - i'd love diesel but at 258k's, she's a reliable unit. Did the clutch as a precaution at 235k prior to going up to Cape York etc. Other than that, oil every 5 and coolant every 20.

    Sounds sweeeeeet too...

    LT77 starting to get grumpy though..
