the jbl 4 inch's go straight in and with the 6x9's uphigh they are clear of any gear when the car is pakced for the bush.

Put it this was i can hear my stereo over the defender, roof rack ,corrugations and my simex's!!

Made the biggest difference with the 6x9's in the back.

OK you've convinced me, a decent cd will work in the landie but what about the 48deg mounting. I believe they need to be as near to level as possible.

    Steve.

pretty sure alot of good head units can cope with bad angles we have a head unit and its not good at all, in our old defender that didn't even have a radio mount in it we put one in to hold the head unit and that is at an angle and copes real well

maybe ask someone with an old classic rangie as i think there radio mounts are at a really servere angle (although i could be wrong about that)

Ok this is my first attempt at posting pics, if it works you'll see my rear speaker solution.

The first pic shows the complete unit.
The second pic shows the mounting brackets on the box.
The third pic shows the extra top cargo barrier mounting brackets I bought so I can mount the speakers between two lots of brackets.
The other pics show the unit installed.
It is up out of harms way and out of the way of rear view.
Wether the pics work or not I'm wrapped because now I've got the Pink Floyd pumpin' and who cares about engine & road noise!!!!

Great pics Steve, I see your headlining is starting to sag too.

What are the boxes in the centre bit?

I went to Strathfield Car Radio yesterday to look at speakers and was bamboozled by the kit and the language. I suddenly felt old. Today I think I'll look at Supercheap where you can look for hours without being asked "Can I help you."
