    Front washer pumps?

I need to buy a new front washer pump for my Defender, and I see Paddocks have a non-aircon and aircon type listed - with the aircon one being 3-4x the price! Can anyone tell me why there is a difference, and what it is? For the life of me, I can't see why aircon links to wash/wipe!

The catalogue lists ADU3905 as the original pump for your Defender but this is no longer available.
It supercedes to STC1453 & you need a link lead too, AMR3849.

That doesn't really answer your question though but it might help.

Both are available from LR if you need them.

Just a note with Aust defenders to about 02 I think always get non air con stuff as Rover Aust brought out only non air con vehicles and fitted air con here. I know this true up to 98. After that not sure.

As far as I know (could be wrong) Defenders fitted with air con in UK have bottle in different spot, so pumps different. Also so PN STC1453 are fitted to Classic Rangies as well, where as A/C pump is PN DRC2713L only made for A/C Defenders. So they make more of them...more you make cheaper they are.....

I replaced the pump on my County with one from a Volvo V6 station wagon, much heftier construction and much higher volume.

Actually, I think your answer and V8Hybrid's below do help a huge amount. Your part numbers match up with Paddock's list here, and V8Hybrid's explains why they show a different model for Aircon - mine obviously isn't factory aircon as far as the UK is concerned. So, not only does it make sense, it means I can get the cheaper item too!
