You can also fit 255/70's no problems, that's what I have on my 03 Disco.

dm_td5 what breed of tyre mate and how are they lasting

255's?? Like MarknDeb asked what make and how long you had them? I need something for most roads on and off roading hence AT's.

Someone long time ago had reference to website showing different sized tyres. You typed in the size and it showed you profiles of old and new tyres.

depending on a few things what tyre you pick will vary...

heres my feel on the last few sets of tyres Ive used..

dunlop/olympic 7.50r16 steeltrecks.. (thems those army ones) Great all rounder, doesnt excel at anything but doesnt suck either, available in 8/12 ply if you know how to ask for em last ok. If you dont know what your going to do thats my tyre of choice.

BFG ATs. Big Reds current rubber, so far so good, seems to deal with everything IVe thrown at them, bit of a pain to balance 12k km so far and negligable wear, about 2K Km on mixed crap and handled as expected Havent had them on soft sand or deep mud yet but it'll happen. they have hot and cold runs from the production get good ones and your set bad runs will die quick. Dont run them underinflated the rubber isnt up to it.

General Grabbers, Big Reds old rubber, Wow do they last, great on the high way and sand... Bout as useful as a wet paper bag in a gun fight in the wet/gravel/mud. If your in brissy Ive got big reds original 5, theyre down to sub 20 % wear and might make a roadworthy but if you want to try em your welcom to them for a week.

Dunlop Extra Grip Hi milers. As fitted to the RFSV/Gunbuggies. If there was ever a case for blatent mis naming of a product this is it... Great in the gloopy stuff, crap on just about everythign else. and IVe seen them not make 10k Km.



IMHO It doesnt matter what tyre you fit IF you dont run them at the right pressure for the situation you might as well go back to steel wheels like the traction engines of old. the wrong pressure will cost you grip/tyrelife/feel.

Thanks heaps guys. Nice to get honest opinions here. Had BF's before on Jackaroo, Pajero and Suzuki sierra but saw the ads for Coopers. Just want to make sure the Cooper ads not just Bull....

Coopers, from what Ive heard arent too bad, the only reason I went the BFG at's as opposet to the Cooper Discoverer STC's was the fact that I got the BFG's at a good discount, they were in stock when I needed them and the place that fitted them let me keep an eye on the precedings and do some checks on big red while it was happening, The boys werent happy as they had to redo some of the fittings to get the add on weights down to a minimum AND the boss sent back on of the tyres that wouldnt balance to my satisfaction.

I was in the same boat not to long ago Ive had the BFGs and they servied well. They wernt brillinat or excell in anything but a good allrounder.
The Cooper on the other hand is again a great all rounder just better than the BFGs, cost more for sure but IMHO a better tyre.
