Chemical Degreaser
Hi guys does anybody know what chemical the engine builders use to clean the motors (hot Tanking).

a very strong acid.... that i wont mention here because it is also used in other illicit endeavours..... needless to say - its no good for home use as it quite dangerous, you should be able to take your motor to some engine rebuilders and have it hot tanked for a slab.....

if you want a good HD degreaser/paint stripper/ alloy eater give a cheap brand of oven cleaner a try. be warned but! dont keep it on alloy for to long.
great for old cast iron blocks.

Simple Green try that.
I use Simple Green which is a friendly degreaser rather than an acid, leaves a sligh residue behind that stops what ever is left behind oxidising. In most of these hot baths you'll find a caustic solution. Not very nice either.
