    Gear selector sensor switch

My 01 Td5 Discovery wouldnt start in Park or Neutral.
Sensor on auto that allows this to happen packed it in.

$400.00 to fit the new one. No labor charged..hmmmm

Now is it me or is this a rip off.

Seems a bit steep to me - I'll investigate

The Part (Part No. UHB 100190) is available from the UK (Beam End Parts) for about $200.00 plus postage. Maybe add another $20 - $25 for that, then the time involved.

I can't see any prices for local supplies (PM Scouse with the part number - he may be able to tell you a local price) - but if you can get the part for less than $250.00 - and do the work yourself - looks quite easy,

..........but if you can't do the job yourself - the parts + labour etc., would make $400 roundabout okay-ish

    Thanks for that ladas..

Now if i can get the bloody srs light to go away ( already replaced 2 seat belt mechanisms), i will be happy, and now it seems the tc, downhill and the other light have gone out in sympathy with the srs light and decided to rear their ugly heads.

    Will it ever stop...

I know there is a good car in there somewhere.

Have you checked the rotary coupler under the steering wheel shroud - that went on mine.

I pulled if off - did a continuity test through each strand/wire and found the SRS circuit was faulty.

I bought a replacement from ebay but haven't seen any on there recently

    again available from the UK

    See details YRC100350

WOW...thanks again bud. Will check that out for sure.

My old series 2a lwb ute is looking good at the moment
The only thing wrong with that was corroded tool boxes above the wheel arches. My pet ferrets found that out the hard way.

    have you got brake squeal......?

this can throw up some faults as well.........the frequency from the squeal is enough to upset the different sensors.......

Is this the XYZ switch? Check that the air con isn't dripping condensate onto the switch whilst you are under there.
